Italy: Pompeii: The Ruins

Pompeii is the Roman ruins south of Naples, one of most visited site in Italy, and UNESCO World Heritage site. Further reading at Wikipedia reveals that it is famous for erotic arts. The city was destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius and we could see the frozen body of the residents trying to escape from the eruption.
We visited Pompeii after Amalfi, arrived there before 6pm, so we had only about 1 hour to explore the site. The site was huge enough to make us tired. There was an exhibition in the middle, which was already closed when we arrived there.
We got out from the site after the closing time, from an exit gate near House of Mystery... was panic when we couldn't find the exit, thought we had to spend the nite in the ruins...
We were waiting for the bus going back to Salerno, but after an hour we found out that we mis-read the bus time table, that there was no bus anymore that time.
We returned to the train station near the ruin site entrance and was advised to walk 1km to other train station in the city center going back to Salerno, since the train station near the ruins was only for trains going to Naples.
We were so exhausted that night but happy we could still catch the train back to Salerno...
